Education in Karnataka

The state of Karnataka in India has to its credit some of the premier institutions like the Indian Institute of Science, Indian Institute of Management, the National Institute of Technology Karnataka and the National Law School of India University. An Indian Institute of Technology Muddenahalli has been approved by the central government as part of the 11th 5 year plan. This will be the first IIT in Karnataka. In addition, a 600 crore world-class Visvesvaraya Institute of Advanced Technology (VIAT) is being constructed in between Muddenahalli and Kanivenarayanapura. As per the 2001 census, Karnataka has a literacy rate of 67.04% with 76.29% of males and 57.45% of females in Karnataka being literate.
 
Common Entrance Test

The Common Entrance Test (CET) is a competitive exam conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority for the purpose of admission of students to the first year or first semester of full time courses in Medical, Dental and Engineering Courses in professional colleges within the state in question in India
The professional colleges in the state offering such courses are affiliated to the state run universities, and admit students through the CET annually. The fee structure varies from year to year.
 

Academic Eligibility
 
For applicants applying for CET:

The final examination conducted by the 10+2 system conducted by any recognized Central/State board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi, or any other state board, General Certificate Education, Pre-University Examination, HSC Vocational examination.
